PACKERS ON THE DRIFT
By Andy Schooler
The Green Bay Packers have drifted out for Super Bowl glory after a surprise 16-13 defeat to the Washington Redskins.
The Packers, favourites with Sky Bet prior to the weekend's action, slipped to 3-2 for the season after going down 16-13 in the captial.
They were duly pushed out by most firms and can now be backed at a general 10/1.
The race for the Super Bowl remains wide open after the fifth week of action, something summed up by the fact that both William Hill and Ladbrokes offer five teams between 13/2 and 9/1 at present.
William Hill have the Baltimore Ravens as their favourites, with Ladbrokes putting the New York Jets at the head of their market.
Baltimore beat Denver 31-17 on Sunday, while the Jets face Minnesota on Monday night - if they win they are likely to become general favourites.
Pittsburgh were also cut despite being on a bye week - they are now a best price of 10/1 - but Indianapolis drifted to 10/1 despite ending the last unbeaten record, that of Kansas City.
Further down the market, Dallas' poor start to the season continued as they lost 34-27 at home to Tennessee, taking their record to 1-3.
The Cowboys, who will host the 2011 showpiece, are now 28/1 with Ladbrokes having started the season as a best price of 11/1.
