Can you talk me thru how you do this?
I'm guessing you take a position pre-match and then wait to see how the games / sets develop. Then trade them off as the game goes? What kind of margin do you make?
I knew a trader who staked huge amounts (tens of thousands) but actually because he traded them out only made a hundred or so off his trades at a time. Not to be sneezed at I know but it's a lot of dough for that kind of return.
It's something I'm trying to weigh up to be honest Select.
To start with i was staking £20ish on the draw (price normally around 6) and looking to trade out about 4ish.
I changed up last night and backed the draw big, just looking for a couple of ticks to trade
Here's my P/L on the Barney Whitlock match. Here i had my "lay" matched before a dart was thrown. (There was also £6"green" on Barney and the draw - so profit no matter what)
Darts > Whitlock v Barneveld : Match Odds Showing 1 - 2 of 2 Selections
Selection Odds Stake(£) Bid type Placed Profit/loss(£)
Draw 5.00 150.00 Back 25-Feb-10 20:31 -150.00
Draw 4.80 156.20 Lay 25-Feb-10 20:33 156.20
*Average odds: On Off Back subtotal: -150.00
Lay subtotal: 156.20
Market subtotal: 6.20
Commission @ 5%: 0.31
Net Market Total: 5.89
When doing this, you need to keep an eye on the market. Here i saw the most cash was matched between 4.8 and 5.
I put up my £150 to get matched @ 5. It was matched pretty quickly, so I immediately put up a lay @ 4.8 and used
betfair to calculate how much to put up to get the most guaranteed green.
As you can see, it took 2 minutes to green out.
Margins you make on this are slim pickings, but if you can make 4% on every game then it soon adds up.
I'm a bit wary of trying this with Phil Taylor matches however
