Cambuur are the league’s top scorers with 43 goals scored in 16 games – thats 2.69 per game. They also lose one or two, in fact 28 in those 16 so they’re by far the most entertaining in the Division.

Opponents Emmen are third bottom and away from home have lost 22 goals in 7 matches – over 3 per game. As long as this one goes to from it should be a comfortable win for Cambuur with a few goals along the way.

In order to get this £10k Challenge really moving I’m making this a 10/10 bet so it’s the full stake tonight. Remember that’s 50% of my overall bank.

It’s amazing what a win can do you for you. Suddenly doing the Challenge seems like a good idea again. No doubt I’ll be brought back down to earth with an almighty bump but here goes with Bet number 65.

It’s my favourite league, yep, Norway’s 2nd division and they’re now beginning to get into their stride after 5 games played. It’s bottom v third when Alta host Tromsdalen this afternoon and in a league where goals are almost guaranteed it’s another Over 2.5 goals bet. Alta have already lost 16 goals in their opening 5 games so I’m hoping their defence is still as porous today.

£20,000 Challenge? Pah! Don’t make me laugh, I’ll be happy to make it back up to £20 at this rate. LLLLLLL. 7 loses in a row. Count them. It makes for some ugly reading. I’m so embarrassed that I’ve not even updated my stats on the top right hand corner of the screen. So where do I go from here?

Well the UK season is all but over and £20k is merely a pipe dream but I wouldn’t mind finishing in some kind of profit. So I’m going to do something that I promised myself I’d never do. Something that proves, if there was ever any doubt, that I am a gambler, a punter, a fool. I’m topping up my balance so that I can get out of the whole I’m in. Don’t do this at home folks. Only the stupidist of punters just don’t know when to walk away. That’ll be me.

I’ve made a deal with myself that I ‘donate’ £100 to prop up the Challenge and get it back when the balance reaches £300. I am a mug.

But anyways, here’s today’s bet. No time for any explanation but it’s on overs in the Austrian 1st Division match between Vocklabruck and Gratkorn FC.

You gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, know when to walk away, know when to run – in the words of Kenny Rodgers it’s all about quitting while you’re ahead. Once I get ahead I’ll bear that in mind but at the moment I’m behind. Miles behind. A run of shockers has left me with just under £70 in the pot but I’m gonna go for it between now and the end of the season to see if I can at least finish in profit for the season. So here goes…

At lunchtime I’m going back into the Estonian League which proved to be a happy punting ground last term. The early pace-setters play each other when Levadia Tallinn host JK Trans Narva. Both teams certainly know their way to goal and have scored 51 goals between them in the opening 7 games of the season. There’s also a history of goals when they meet with 7 of the last 8 finishing overs.

So it’s an overs bet for me again. Fingers crossed this awful run comes to an end today!

Right, I’m back with the Challenge again today after a distasterous run of 5 losses. Absolute nightmare.

I’ve been waiting on the Scandanavian footy to get back into the swing of things and while the Norwegain, Swedish and Finish leagues still have a week or two before the form settles down, I’ve turned my attention on Danish football. Today’s pick is a game between Kolding and Thisted.

Plenty of goals are usually scored when the two meet with 14 goals in the 3 games between the two. Kolding’s last 7 have seen 26 goals – Over 3.5 per match, whilst Thisted have score 10 in their last 2. Fingers crossed I get things back on track with an Overs game today.

It’s been a quiet couple of weeks as far the Challenge goes. I’ve been licking my wounds after 4 straight losses that’s seen me lose money quicker than a Northern Rock banker. But the good news is that the footy is starting to return in Scandanavia where I plundered the Overs market in the early part of the season. Woohoo!

It’s a bit too early in the season to get stuck in there so I’ll wait a week or two until the form settles down. So today I’m casting my net over to Germany and a game between Fuerth and 1860 Munich. Fuerth sit 3rd and are pushing for promotion to the Bundesliga. They’re the league’s top scorers with 51 in 24 matches (Over 2 a game), whilst they’ve also lost an average of 1.5 per match too.

1860 aren’t quite so prolific but their last 6 games have seen 25 goals, over 4 per match. Meetings between the two also point to goals with 8 of the last 9 finishing overs since 2004. I’m feeling confident about this one so I’m gonna go the half my balance for much needed win. Wish me luck!

I know I said I wouldn’t bet on any English games but here I go again. Glutton for punishment!

I’m on MK Dons at Swindon. There always seems to be goals whenever the Dons are playing and they’ve scored more goals on the road than anyone else in the division. Swindons home games average more than 3 per game too so fingers crossed there’s goals in this one.

I’ve also gone with a wee punt in the Italian Serie B. Grosetto have been good for me this season and today they host Ascoli with Overs looking over-priced at 11/10 and too good to miss out on.

It’s Friday night. It can only mean one thing… Dutch Jupiler League football. Of course.

And it’s my old mates AGOVV Apeldoorn again. They host Emmen in the Netherlands 1st Division and it’s got overs written all over it (I hope!). The last 10 meetings between them have finished Over 2.5 goals with an astonishing 4.9 goals scored on average per game.

I’ve cashed in on Apeldoorn on a few ocassions already this season and 6 of their last 7 matches have finished with more than 2 goals, in fact 5 of those have seen 4 or more. Their league games average over 3.4 per game so the signs are good.

Emmen aren’t quite so prolific but they tend to lose 2 or more away from home so fingers crossed they lose at least that tonight.

I’m going to stick with my £100 staking plan at the moment so I managed to get my bet on with Coral just before kick off.

As prompted by Duffy03691 earlier today – thanks mate! – I got on the Stevenage v Forest Game match for an overs bet. When I checked last night there weren’t too many bookies offering odds but by this evening Paddy Power were offering 4/6 so I snapped that up.

I’ve not done too well with betting on games in England so I only went with a £100 stake.

I had a bit of a lucky escape last week that meant I kept my balance up above £500. I’d rather be lucky than good any day of the week. So I hope my luck holds out tonight. I’m offski for the weekend on a wee trip to Inverness so I’m going to go for two bets tonight in order to keep some momentum going with The Challenge.

First up its an Overs bet on the Mechelen v Racing Genk in Belgium. Their last 6 meeting have all finished over 2.5 goals with Genk recording 6-2 and 9-0 wins in the process. One of those would be nice tonight.

I’ve chosen not go with the full ‘half balance’ stake tonight because I’m on two bets so it’s £100 on this one.

Second game of the night is in Holland and again it’s an Overs bet. PSV host Heerenveen in a 7.45 kick-off that promises goals. 8 of the last ten between the two have finished overs. PSV have scored 19 in their last 6 games so if they can keep that rate up tonight the bet should be fine.
