Germany v England Betting Tips
Germany v England - Live on ITV 1. Kick off: Wednesday 8pm

England fans needs little reminding of their team’s last game on German soil. That 5-1 win got Sven Goran Eriksson’s reign off to a promising start and the fans would love nothing more than to see Fabio Capello’s side humiliate their biggest rivals once again. But with injuries leading to withdrawals it’ll be a slightly understrength England side that takes to the field in Berlin on Wednesday.
Germany 1 England 5

England stunned the home side the last time the two side met in Germany.
With only 4 of his expected first team line up likely to start it’s not likely we’ll see another 5-1 mauling but it should be an interesting game - it always is when these two sides meet - friendly or no friendly.
Is football coming home again?
The bookies certainly don’t expect an England win. They’re best priced at a tempting 13/5 (Bet Direct, Stan James) to claim a victory against the Euro 2008 finalists. The Germans are just 6/5 (Betfred, Boylesports, Skybet, William Hill) and I think that’s a bit flattering considering some of the performances they put in in Austria and Switzerland in the Summer.
500/1 for a repeat performance
If you’re feeling optimistic and think England can grab another 5-1 win, Paddy Power will give you 500/1 - I’ve no doubt they’ll have a few takers at that price. Funnily enough, the best price for a 5-1 win for the home side is just 150/1 with Sportingbet - but I don’t think there’ll be too many taking that price!
Bent to strike first?
Word is that Darren Bent might start up-front for Capello’s side. He’s enjoyed a resurgence under Harry Redknapp at Spurs and and is the shortest priced Englishman to open the scoring at 17/2 (Bet365). Following his hat-trick in Croatia, Theo Walcott is generously marked up at 12/1 (Blue Sq, Coral, Skybet, Totesport) to find the net first but it’s the Germans who lead this market through Klose (6/1 Blue Sq, Paddy Power, Pagebet, Sportingbet), Podolski (7/1 Paddy Power, Sportingbet, Totesport) and Gomes (8/1 Ladbrokes)
Selectabet’s best bet
I think the 9/8 (Bet365) on England with the benefit of the Asian Handicap looks a good shout. They’re marked up with 0, +0.5 of a start so that means you’ll get a full return if England win or a half back and a half return if they draw - that can’t be bad in a friendly.
Good luck if you’re having a bet on this one.

Even though i am english and would love nothing more than to bet the germans (just like beating the french) i cannot see us getting anything from this game and it’s a bit of an outside bet but i don’t think you can knock William hills 14/1 on Seb Schweinstieger. couple of quid each way covers the first 5 with Hills. im going to be on that. Also i can’t see us scoring in open play however a set piece may prove good for a goal as although their defence is good the center backs quite oten switch off for brief moments during the game so possibly Lescott or Terry from a corner as another Each way bet
Hi Karl,
Good to hear from you. Don’t let the fact that you’re English put you off backing the Germans
There’s no loyalty when it comes to winning a few quid!
It takes the edge off the pain of losing sometimes too.
Good shout on the FG too. I might take a look at that myself.
Good luck with your bets.
my acca for tonight
Spain -1.5 AH to beat Chile
Argentina to beat Scotland
Holland to beat Sweden
France - Uruguay over 2.5 goals
Germany - England over 2.5 goals
Pays 23/1 with Bet365
Good luck lionking
Best pick I think is the Argies at Hampden. Scotland have a poor record at home in friendlies I think.
now i dont mean to blow my own trumpet but i did say Lescott/Terry Each way. granted i backed the germans however i backed both Terry and Upson (once i found out he was playing instead of lescott)
£1.50 EW on Seb Schweinstegier, Upson & Terry. £9 total + £6 on germany to win, so from £15’s worth of bets with total return of £75.76, i won £60 earlier on the horses aswell and yesterday i won £85. since my bday on 16th iv done nothing but win. at the moment im on fire, il b sure to right down my bets for this weekend for anyone who wants to guarentee a win :-p
HI Karl,
Well done mate. Nice one.
