How to Bet Online on the Grand National
Betting online couldn’t be easier. But if you’ve never done it before then don’t worry, here’s our simple 4-step guide to opening a betting account and placing a bet online.
Step 1 – Finding the right bookmaker
There are literally hundreds of bookmakers out there who would love you to open an account with them. Some names you’ll be familiar with, some you won’t. But just because you’ve never heard of a bookmaker doesn’t mean they’re no good, but it’s understandable that you’ll want to go with a name you can trust. Check out our list of partners and preferred betting sites here as this provides a good starting point.
Most sites now make it really easy to place you Grand National bet. Just click on the links and away you go.
Step 2 – Creating your account
This should only take you a couple of minutes. For most sites you’ll just need to fill in a one-page form with all your contact details. As well as your contact details you’ll need to come up with a username and password. Remember to keep these as unique as possible and secret so that no-one else can access you account.
Most sports betting websites offer incentives such as free bets, winning bonuses, money-back on certain bets and even loyalty points schemes. To see which sites offer sign-up bonuses check out our partner site at The Free Bet Site where bonuses are constantly being updated and added.
Step 3 – Depositing funds
You’ll need a credit or debit card in order to fund your account and it’s often easy to think of your betting account as another bank account. You can deposit and withdraw funds at any time, although some times it can take a few days for money to re-appear in our bank account after withdrawals.
Most betting sites also offer additional deposit methods such as bank transfers, paypal or moneybookers.
You should also note that a few (mostly European) sites will charge a small fee, usually a percentage of your deposit, whenever you top up your account so remember to factor that into your betting stake.
Step 4 – Placing your bet
Finding the Grand National page should be really easy, if not just look for Horse Racing and browse from there. Once you’ve found it you then need to place your bet. You can choose to either bet on the win, each way or whatever. Then you’ll need to enter your stake for each bet – be careful not to stake more than you intended to. If you’re perming your bets make sure you see the total amount that you’ll be staking. In most instances you’ll be asked to confirm your bet. Make sure you check all the details before you confirm.
Then sit back, enjoy the race and watch the profits rolling in
. Assuming you’ve won, your winnings will be added to your account balance pretty quickly and you’ll be able to withdraw your funds at any time.
Once you’ve got the hang of betting online I’d recommend you try out a number of bookmakers. Some are better than others and odds can differ significantly from to the other. You should consider many factors when choosing which site to bet with: sports available, bet types available, prices compared to other bookies, promotions offered, the availability of support and payment options.
Good luck!
