Sunderland v Arsenal Betting Preview: More misery expected for the Black Cats

Sunderland could hardly be in worse shape ahead of their meeting with Arsenal, having suffered defeat in five of their last six Premier League games. The Black Cats are currently rock bottom in the top-flight with just two points from a possible 27, and have failed to score in their last three in all competitions.

David Moyes has endured an awful start to life as Sunderland manager and doesn’t appear close to finding the remedy to turn the club’s fortunes around. Sunderland have the worst home record in the Premier League this season and have conceded the second-most amount of goals at home for their troubles.

The North-East outfit haven’t beaten Arsenal in the league since 2009 and don’t look capable of scoring let alone winning against the Gunners, but time is fast running out given they are already five points adrift of safety. Sunderland risk being left behind at the bottom if they can’t get a win, while Arsenal will boost their title hopes at the expense of the Black Cats.

As for the visitors, Arsenal are in fantastic shape ahead of this weekend’s meeting at the Stadium of Light, boasting five wins from their last six in the Premier League. Arsene Wenger’s men have the joint-best away record in the division too, winning three on the bounce on the road, and could leapfrog leaders Manchester City if they better their result this weekend.

Arsenal put last weekend’s goalless draw behind them with a win over Reading in Tuesday’s EFL Cup, and are full of confidence to continue their unbeaten run. The Gunners haven’t lost in the league since the opening day of the campaign, while Sunderland haven’t won since last season.

Big Tip

With Arsenal boasting three consecutive away wins in the Premier League ahead of trip to face a Sunderland side with the worst home form, Saturday’s clash should be a foregone conclusion. And with Arsenal boasting seven clean sheets in their last eight games in all competitions against a Sunderland side goalless in their previous three, Bet365 are giving odds of 6/4 for Arsenal to Win to Nil against Sunderland.
