Real Madrid will kick off their title challenge at the Anoeta against Real Sociedad with Los Blancos hoping to start the season with a win.
Real Sociedad v Real Madrid
La Liga
August 21st 2016
Kick off 19:15
Live on Sky Sports 1 / Sky Sports 1 HD
Real Sociedad finished a comfortable ninth in La Liga last season after a torrid start to the campaign under former Everton boss David Moyes. La Real often cause the leagues big teams problems at Anoeta, but last season Real Madrid won 1-0 in San Sebastian.
Sociedad are without striker Imanol Agirretxe through injury and he will be replaced by Juanmi. Midfielder Sergio Canales is also likely to miss out through injury.
Eusebio’s side are major underdogs to win this clash at odds of 39/10 with Marathon Bet.
Real Madrid finished last season in fantastic form, winning their last 12 outings in the Spanish top-flight. Zinedine Zidane’s side have also been prolific in front of goal, scoring at least twice in 11 of their last 12 games in the league.
The visitors are without a number of players through injury. Karim Benzema is a doubt for the clash, while Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and Keylor Navas have all been ruled out through injuries.
Croatian playmaker Luka Modric is suspended, with James Rodriguez and Isco competing to fill the midfielders spot. Alvaro Morata will make his second debut for Los Blancos, with Marcos Asensio is likely to play on the flank.
Zidane’s team are heavy favourites to win this clash at odds of 7/9 with Marathon Bet, while the draw is odds of 3/1.
