Dortmund ran Bayern Munich close for the Bundesliga title last season, enjoying a stellar campaign under Thomas Tuchel. Despite that good campaign BVB have lost Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer.
However, Tuchel has made some shrewd moves of his own in the transfer market bringing in Andre Schurrle, Ousmane Dembele, Mario Gotze, Sebastien Rode and Marc Bartra.
The Bundesliga runners-up have failed to win any of the last six meetings in normal time, although they did beat Bayern in the 2015 German Cup on penalty kicks.
BVB will be underdogs for this clash at odds of 23/10 at 888 Sport to win this game in normal time.
Bayern Munich have dominated German football in recent years. This summer boss Pep Guardiola left for Manchester City and has been replaced at the helm by experienced Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Bayern have strengthened their squad this summer with the acquisition of Hummels from Dortmund and Portuguese wonderkid Renato Sanches from Benfica. The German champions do head into this clash with something of an injury crisis though.
Holger Badstuber, Arjen Robben, Douglas Costa and Renato Sanches will definitely miss out through injury, while Jerome Boateng and Franck Ribery look doubtful.
The men from Munich head into this clash as favourites at odds of 5/4 at 888 Sport.
Recent games between these two rivals have been relative tight and the draw at odds of 13/5 with BetVictor looks like a good punt in this clash, especially as three of the last four meetings between these two have finished all-square in normal time.
