Everton v Chelsea Betting Preview: Everton to give Chelsea the Blues

Everton hosts Chelsea at Goodison Park on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, with both teams desperately in need of a victory to have any chance of silverware this season.

FA Cup Quarter-Final

Kick-off 17:30

This game could be make-or-break for under-fire Everton boss Roberto Martinez, as his team have underachieved in the top-flight, despite having one of the most exciting young teams in the Premier League.

The Toffees are 12th in the Premier League table, having scored 51 goals this season, a figure only Leicester City and Manchester City can better in the top-flight. Everton have been poor at home this season, but big cup ties seem to lift the mood at Goodison and the Toffees are odds of 8/5 at Bet365. It is also worth noting that the Toffees have taken four off the Blues this season.

Former-Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku has been in hot form this season and is a very tempting bet at odds of 5/1 with Sky Bet for first goalscorer.

The visitors arrive on Merseyside on the back of a Champions League last-16 exit to PSG, having suffered a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday against Laurent Blanc’s side to lose 4-2 on aggregate.

The defeat may well effect the team, having previously been on a four match unbeaten run in the Premier League. The Blues have yet to suffer a domestic defeat in Guus Hiddink’s second reign, with the two defeats against PSG remaining his only defeats in his second spell.

In his first spell Hiddink won the FA Cup, ironically beating Everton in the 2009 final. The Dutchman will be looking for a similar outcome in this clash.

Chelsea’s chances of progression could be handed a blow with both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa picking-up injuries against PSG. The reigning Premier League champions are odds of 2/1 with Boylesports to emerge from their trip to Merseyside with a win.

Big Tip

This is not a simple one to predict (few are), but Everton are an unpredictable beast and I just have a feeling that they will pull-off a victory, which is of course available at odds of 8/5 with Bet365.
