PSV finished second in their group behind Wolfsburg and at the expense of Premier League Manchester United. The Dutch champions are once again enjoying a successful campaign and are currently leading the Eredivisie following six straight wins in the Dutch top-flight.
Much of their successful campaign has been built on the goals of top scorer Luuk De Jong, who has been prolific in the Eredivisie and found the net twice in the Champions League. Unfortunately for PSV the Netherlands international will miss out on this one through suspension.
The Dutch champions surprised many by making the knockout stages and are odds of 7/2 with Bet365 to surprise the Spanish visitors in this clash.
Atletico Madrid topped their group ahead of Benfica and Galatasaray, winning four of their group games in the process. Diego Simeone’s men now have a reputation for being resolute and hard to beat.
The men from Madrid head into this clash on the back of a frustrating goalless draw at home to fellow top four challengers Villarreal on Sunday.
The draw left them eight points behind Barcelona in the race for the Spanish title, so the importance of progression in this competition may be heightened. Atleti are the favourites in this clash and can be backed at odds of 21/20 with Paddy Power.
Atletico will be looking to French forward Antoine Griezmann to inspire them to victory in this clash. The former-Real Sociedad star has scored four times in the Champions League this season and could be a decent bet for first goal scorer at odds of 4/1 with William Hill.
If you cannot separate the pair the draw is available at odds of 23/10 with Bet365.
PSV tend to be strong at home, but I really do fancy Atletico to win this one. The Spanish side do not tend to be prolific though, so the Atletico win with under 2.5 goals scored could be the bet to go with and is available at odds of 5/2 at Betfair.
