Premier League Arsenal have been handed the tough task of defeating European champions Barcelona in the last-16 of the Champions League. The first leg takes place at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Arsenal are probably relieved at being in the knockout stages of the competition, after looking set to go out the competition with just two group games remaining. The Gunners sealed their place in the last-16 win a 3-0 victory at Olympiakos.

The Gunners could not have been handed a more difficult draw in the last-16 in Catalan giants Barcelona. However if you fancy an upset Arsene Wenger’s team can be backed at odds of 4/1 with Bet365.

That does not look a great bet though, as the Gunners have won just once in their last six meetings with Barcelona.

Barcelona are inevitably in good form heading into this clash. The Blaugrana made it through to the last-16 by winning four and drawing two of their group games. Their form at home has also been good and they have to be seen as the team to beat in this year’s competition.

Just like last season South American trio Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi have been ruthless in front of goal, netting 91 goals in all competitions between them. Top scorer Suarez is a decent value bet for first goal scorer at odds of 4/1 with William Hill.

If you like getting splinters in your backside the draw is odds of 16/5 with Bet365. A low scoring draw may not be a terrible result for the home side in this difficult clash.

Big Tips

This game does promise a lot of goals, so the over 2.5 goals scored bet could be a decent shout in this clash. That is available at odds of 4/6 with Betfair, not great odds but a fair chance of a return.

An alternative would be for a Barcelona win and over 3.5 goals to be scored, which can be backed at odds of 13.8 with StanJames.
