Roma hosts Real Madrid at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night the first leg of the Champions League last 16.

Roma head into this clash in good form following four straight wins in Serie A. The Giallorossi’s fortunes have picked-up since the arrival of experienced boss Luciano Spalletti at the club. They are now in contention for a Champions League spot in the Italian top-flight.
Despite their recent good form in their domestic competition, they have a poor record in the Champions League, having won just one of their six group games and scraped through to the last 16 of the competition. You can back Spalletti’s men at odds of 7/2 with Bet365 to claim a win in this one.
Real Madrid heads into this clash as one of the favourites to win the competition. Los Blancos managed to keep five clean sheets from their six group games and were the prolific going forward scoring 19 goals, a joint best in the group stage.
Zinedine Zidane’s team do have an inconsistent away record in recent games though, having won just one of their last four away games in all competitions. They also seem to have a problem beating Roma, as the Italian side have beaten in the three meetings, although one of those was just a pre-season friendly.
Despite their relatively poor form away from home the Spanish giants will be considered favourites to win this game, and can be backed for victory at odds of 5/6 with Bet365.
Although the visitors will be favourites for both this game and the tie, I believe that Roma will be confident of heading into this clash and gaining a positive result.
My big tip for this game is back the draw at odds of 3/1 with BetVictor. Roma are in decent form and Real’s away form has to be questioned at the moment, so that they may prove to cancel each other out.
