Ross County face SPL champions Celtic on Sunday at Hampden Park in the Scottish League Cup semi-final, with the Staggies hoping to cause a major shock by knocking the holders out of the competition.
Ross County v Celtic
Scottish League Cup semi-final
Kick-off 3PM Sunday 31st January 2016
Live on BBC Two Scotland
Ross head into this clash fourth-place in the SPL table, but face a Celtic team who look to have found form. The Staggies do not have a great record against the Hoops, winning two of the last 12 meetings between these two teams.
However, one of those victories came in the Scottish FA Cup in 2010, so they do have previous for causing a shock. It’s difficult to fancy Jim McIntrye’s team for a win though and if you want to take a punt on a shock they are odds of 10/1 with Bet365.
Northern Irish striker Liam Boyce looks set to figure after recovering from a broken hand. Boyce is the Staggies top scorer, having found the net 13 times this season. He could be a decent bet for first goalscorer at odds of 11/1 with Bet365.
Celtic have not looked formidable this season, but are on a good run of form having claimed five consecutive in all competitions. The Hoops have also been prolific in front of goal, having scored 15 goals in their last three games in all competitions.
Ronny Delia’s side are certainly favourites to make it to the final of this competition, but are not good value to record a win, as the best odds you can get for a Hoops win is 1/3 with Bet365.
I cannot look past a Celtic win in this clash, but Ross could cause Delia’s side a problem and I would not bet against the Staggies getting on the scoresheet.
For me Celtic are likely to progress from this tie, so my big tip is to go for a Celtic win and over 2.5 goals scored, which is odds of 5/6 with Paddy Power.
