Tottenham v Sunderland is a vital game at both ends of the Premier League table, as Spurs look to revive their title challenge and Sunderland look to escape the drop zone.

Tottenham’s supposed Premier League title challenge ground to a halt on Wednesday night, as fellow top four contenders Leicester came to White Hart Lane and recorded a 1-0 win.
The defeat left Mauricio Pochettino’s side seven points behind arch-rivals Arsenal and second-place Leicester in the league table. The north London side cannot afford to slip-up in this game and allow their rivals to capitalise.
Spurs have developed a bad habit of slipping-up at home and that is why there is no value in a Tottenham win, but if you want to back Spurs they are odds of 3/1 at Betfair for new customers. Pochettino’s team are no doubt favourites for the victory in this clash, just not a good bet.
Sunderland looked doomed to life in the Championship until their last two top-flight games, as the Black Cats have now claimed consecutive league victories. Last time out Sam Allardyce’s side won 4-2 at fellow strugglers Swansea, as former-Spurs striker Jermain Defoe scored a hat-trick.
The veteran striker has now netted five times in his last two Premier League appearances and it would be difficult to bet against the striker scoring in this one, with Defoe at odds of 4/1 with Paddy Power to score against his old club.
For me despite Sunderland and Defoe in particularly hitting the goal trail of late, I do not see this being a high-scoring encounter. I am going to stick my neck out here and go for the bet of under 2.5 goals scored and a Tottenham win at odds of 13/5 with StanJames.
Tottenham have been pretty solid in defence this season and the Black Cats are more likely to come and attempt to hit Spurs on the counter-attack, so it seems like the logical bet.
Spurs to win and under 2.5 goals 13/5 (StanJames)
