Premier League. Live on Sky Sports 1. Kick-off 8pm
After an opening day defeat to Aston Villa, Bournemouth face a daunting trip to Anfield for Monday night’s live match on Sky Sports. The Cherries could be in for a long season as they mix it with clubs with far greater resources and experience at this level. The bookies don’t rate their chances for an upset tonight, making them 7/1 (Bet365, Betfred, Ladbrokes) to shock the Reds.
Liverpool will hoping to build on their 1-0 win at Stoke last weekend. In all honesty it was a result that could’ve gone either way and but for a wonder-strike by Coutinho Brendan Rodgers could already be finding himself under pressure. The home support will be keen to see what kind of impact Benteke can make at Anfield and Firminho is pushing for a place on the bench.
I’m yet to be convinced that Liverpool will be better than last year but tonight could suit them when they’re up against Bournemouth’s open and expansive set-up. Whilst the Cherries may enjoy possession of the ball they don’t look like they have the firepower to hurt the bigger teams and if they take anything from tonight it will be a massive bonus for boss Eddie Howe.
Their record away from home last season was excellent, with 13 wins on the road but this feels like a step up too far. Liverpool should collect another 3 points but at 1/2 they’re not backable.
Instead look to Christian Benteke to open his account at Anfield. The Belgian internationalist has scored 11 goals in his last 12 Premier League appearance and with a home crowd willing him to get his Anfield career off to a flyer he looks a good bet to find the target tonight.
