Juventus enter the Santiago Bernabeu for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League semi final second-leg against Real Madrid with a one-goal advantage.
Former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata’s early strike and a Carlos Tevez penalty was enough to secure the 2-1 victory a week ago at the Juventus Stadium. Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed Madrid’s consolation but that could cause vital with the away goals rule in play.
Despite their lead, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri has claimed an almost faultless display is needed if they want to progress.
Allegri said, “We have to focus and treat it as it’s the most important game of the year.
“We have to try to secure qualification in Madrid that won’t be easy for sure, but it could also take us to an unexpected final.
“On Wednesday we will need to deliver a performance that is almost perfect. I won’t say perfect because that is impossible in football, but for sure we’ll need our best performance to go through.”
Almost a year on from their extra-time success over Atletico Madrid in last season’s finale, Real Madrid have it all to do in the second leg if they are to repeat the feat.
Carlos Ancelotti’s side look to be coming up short in their attempt for the La Liga title, last weekend’s draw against Valencia saw them drop four points adrift of leaders Barcelona, so their focus is now solely on Champions League success.
Following Sunday’s 2-2 draw, Ancelotti said; “This was not a good result, but we fought until the very end and had a lot of chances to win.
“We shot to the post three times and missed a penalty kick. We attacked in virtually every way we could, and we created a lot of danger. If we play like this against Juventus, we will have good chances to make it into the final.
Despite Real Madrid being the clear favourites with the bookmakers, their below par form coupled with Juventus knowing they only need to avoid defeat could make a draw at 16/5 with Totesport a sensible bet which has value.
Its also worth using Bet365′s free £50 in-play bet to your advantage too. All Bet365 customers can claim a £50 free bet during the match if they place a £50 bet on any market pre-match. With bookings not carrying over to affect suspensions for the final it’s a green light for a yellow card. As teams tire, and fouls tot up the chances of a late card are very high. In last night’s match a card between the 80th minute and full-time (which includes injury time!) was a gimme at 8/11 – it landed within 30 seconds.
