Wednesday 15th April 2015, Estádio Do Dragão, Live on Sky Sports 1, Kick-off 7:45pm
Bayern in for a tough test in Portugal against dangerous opposition.
Both of these teams enter this Champions League quarter-final first leg match in good form. The home side, Porto, have suffered only 1 defeat during their last 14 matches in all competitions. There home form is particularly impressive, winning all of their last 10 games at the Estádio Do Dragão. Furthermore, Porto have only conceded 2 goals in those 10 home matches and have scored 33 goals, which is excellent.
Bayern Munich have also returned to form, after a sticky start after the winter break. With just 1 defeat in their last 14 games, Bayern have scored 4 or more goals in 5 of those matches. Despite delivering some punishing defeats to teams, Bayern have also struggled to get over the line against others, losing 2-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of March and being held to a 0-0 by Bayer Leverkusen in the cup.
Porto manager Julen Lopetegui, will be praying that striker Jackson Martinez returns to fitness, along with winger Christian Tello. Lopetegui also has to do without defender Ivan Marcano, who is suspended, with Bruno Martins-Indi likely to fill in. Elsewhere, Evandro could come in to stiffen the midfield alongside Hector Herrera and Casemiro.
Pep Guardiola has huge injury problems ahead of the game, with Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, David Alaba, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mehdi Benatia and Javier Martinez out through injury. There is also a doubt over Jerome Boateng but considering the other injuries, he may be forced to start.
This could be a tough assignment for Bayern Munich, coming up against an in-form Porto side and also missing a number of key players. There can be little doubt that Bayern still have a fantastic team but Porto will see this as a chance to put themselves ahead in the tie, before the difficult trip to the Allianz Arena.
Draw and both teams to score at 4/1 with Bet365.
