French Open Tennis: Day 2 Predictions

As usual there are a lot of short priced favourites in the early rounds of a Grand Slam, but lets see if we can find some good value.

D Thiem 4/9 Bet365 to defeat P-H Mathieu. The Austrian 20 year old has had an excellent 12 months and progressed on the ATP tour with ease, nearing the top 50. He has caught many tennis pundits eyes with his ability and he should be able to get the better of French player Mathieu. If Dominic plays some erratic tennis then the experience and crowd may help Paul Henri to gain confidence and cause the upset. Thiem should win though.

E Vesnina 1/1 Bet365 to defeat C McHale. One of many very tough 1st round match-ups to predict in tomorrow’s play. Vesnina is the higher ranked and is very capable on her day. The Russian has excellent doubles skills and will look to mix up the play against McHale who can hit hard. H2H its 1-1 but they have never played on clay. I think the Russian is undeservedly the underdog and therefore a good price for the win, low stakes only
