Sunday 30th March – Live on ESPN 11:30am
The early kick-off in Italy’s Serie A on Sunday is Sassuolo (second bottom) versus Roma (second top) at the Mapei Stadium.
On paper, this looks like a certain away victory, but in football there is very rarely a dead cert. Both sides are in much need of the points but for very differing reasons.
Sassuolo are five points behind 17th position Bologna, who are the team occupying the final safety place in Serie A at the moment, so three points would close that gap and put pressure on the other sides playing later in the day.
Roma are unlikely to overhaul a 14 point gap to leaders Juventus to claim the scudetto, but holding onto second place would be a great achievement for Rudi Garcia in his first campaign in charge at the Stadio Olimpico. And it would guarantee Champions League football returning to the capital for next season.
The hosts have won just one game in their last 11 outings, that a 3-1 victory over Catania a couple of weeks ago. But although they have been beaten fairly regularly, they have only lost by the odd goal or two.
Roma put the disappointment of losing to Napoli three weeks ago behind them by winning the last three matches and have gone a long way to cementing that second position in the league table.
The giallorossi are strong favourites to win at a best price of 6/11 (888 Sport). If you fancy a Roma win but feel the price is a little short, then you might want to consider the price of them to win to nil which is 8/5 (Bet365). Roma have the best defensive record in Serie A conceding just 15 goals from their 29 matches, so this price offers good value.
