This is definitely the match catching the headlines in the ATP Miami Masters quarter-finals today. Andy is still trying to gain the consistency he had before his back operation and is provisionally down to 8th in the ATP rankings due to him having to defend last years Miami points. He had to take some painkillers yesterday in his match against Tsonga, but it didn’t show and his serve statistics where very good, a great sign on US hard courts. He lost only 6 service points against Jo-Wilfried.
Novak Djokovic is the big favourite in the match and has been playing well in both Indian Wells and here in Miami. He has had lapses of concentration though and Murray will attack were possible to upset Novak’s rhythm. I think the start of the match will be crucial to both and concentration as well as accuracy will be all important.
H2H it is 11-8 in favour of Djokovic, who also has a 2-1 lead in Miami where the 2 have played in 2007, 2009 and 2012.
As already mentioned there are still doubts about Murray’s fitness, but I think Andy will give this match all he has got. He has extra motivation as the defending champion and won’t want to lose! Should be a cracking match for tennis fans and very tense for Murray and Djokovic supporters
