Serie A – Napoli v Roma (Sunday 9 March 7:45pm BT Sport)
Third play second in Serie A on Sunday evening as Napoli host Roma at the Stadio San Paolo in a mouth-watering encounter.
Roma still boast faint title hopes, although an 11 point deficit with a game-in-hand looks increasingly insurmountable, but if they are to maintain those hopes then a victory in this clash is a must.
This will be a very difficult fixture for them. Rafa Benitez’s Napoli side beat them 3-0 earlier this year in the Coppa Italia semi-final so there are unhappy memories in the very recent past of this fixture.
Since that semi-final win, Napoli have dropped unexpected league points with draws against Genoa and Livorno, making it three draws from their last four fixtures in all competitions. They will be hoping to get back on track with a win as they seek to overcome Roma and take second place in Serie A come the end of the season.
Looking at the match odds and Napoli are favourites for the three points at a best price of 11/8 (Ladbrokes, William Hill). The draw is available at 12/5 (Betfred, Totesport) while a Roma victory can be backed at 23/10 (Bet365).
I think we’re unlikely to see another 3-0 Napoli win in this one. They have been out of form a little since that Coppa Italia triumph while Roma have gone back to their defensive stronghold with three consecutive clean sheets.
For me, the tip is for a draw at 12/5. I feel that both sides might cancel each other out with Roma not wanting to lose to keep the gap between themselves and their opponents to at least six points.
