Juventus v Sampdoria – Live on BT Sport – Saturday 18th January 7:45pm
Juventus are the runaway leaders in Serie A and on Saturday night they take on Sampdoria in the Juventus Arena.
Sampdoria are the last away Italian team to win in Turin against the bianconeri, in January last year, and will be hoping to repeat that feat again this time around.
It will be a tough ask. Juve are eight points ahead of second-placed Roma and very much the dominant force in Italian football with an impressive unbeaten home record which runs since that Sampdoria defeat last season.
That said, Sampdoria are in a decent run of form which sees them with just one defeat in the last seven league matches as they have pulled away from the relegation zone. Last time out they had an impressive 3-0 win over Udinese so will be going into this one full of confidence following that result.
The hosts don’t fear anybody though. Their current form is impressive to say the least. After a shock 4-2 defeat at Fiorentina in October, after being 2-0 up, they have won their last 11 matches in Serie A.
They have great players to call upon, and with a fully fit squad, Antonio Conte will be confident his side can do the job. Strikers of the quality of Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente and Fabio Quagliarella will always get goals and they’ll be backed up with the creative forces of Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal in midfield.
Will they make it 12 victories in a row on Saturday night? The odds are highly stacked in their favour. Juve are best price of 1/5 (BetVictor) to take the three points, and you’d be hard pushed to look beyond that result.
If you do fancy Samp to repeat last season’s triumph at the Juventus Arena, they are a massive 21/1 (BetVictor) to pull off a surprise win. Personally, I just cannot see it.
If you’re looking for a bit of value, I always think that Andrea Pirlo is the man. The free-kick specialist is always worth a punt in the goalscorer stakes and is 7/2 (bwin) to score anytime and 12/1 (bwin) to score the first goal.
