Malmo v Hibernian
Europa League Qualifying Second Round. Kick off: Thursday 6pm
The road to Europa league glory has begun once again, and out of form Hibernian begin with an away trip to Swedish league leaders Malmo. The Swedes are unbeaten in their previous three matches, scoring 9 goals in the process.
Malmo find themselves top of the Allsvenskan after 16 games with a total goal tally of 31. Magnus Eriksonn and Tokelo Rantie lead the clubs score charts with 6 goals apiece and will both be looking to get on the scoresheet once again.
Hibernian in contrast, are yet to begin the domestic season and are likely to lack sharpness and match fitness to take anything from the game. Hibs have managed only one win from their 4 pre-season matches which came in a 3-1 thumping of the Gibraltar national team.
The Hibees fans will be disappointed to see the back of goal machine Leah Griffiths whos’ loan from Wolves expired in the Summer. Griffiths scored 28 goals in all competitions last season whilst second too scorer Eon Doyle scored 11. Both strikers have since left the club which could leave Hibs short of ideas upfront.
I expect a fairly one-sided encounter in favour of in-form Malmo and believe they will win by at least 2 goals and are unlikely to concede.
