AC Milan vs Roma: Betting Preview

AC Milan vs Roma: Sunday 12th May – 7:45pm kick-off – Live on ESPN

In Serie A on Sunday evening, AC Milan host AS Roma. The hosts know that three points from this game will secure a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, while the visitors’ Roma sit in seventh with a Coppa Italia final waiting for them against fierce rivals Lazio in a couple of weeks.

Milan come into the game on the back of three consecutive victories, including a 4-0 thumping over Pescara on Wednesday evening.

Since Mario Balotelli arrived at the San Siro, the rossoneri’s fortunes have changed for the better. He has helped elevate them back into the top three positions in Serie A with an incredible 11 goals from just 10 starts since his move from Manchester City in January.

He has bagged a few penalties, but still, it is an impressive record nonetheless, and he’ll obviously be good bet for first goalscorer at 15/4 (Bet365).

Roma have been in excellent recent form themselves since Aurelio Andreazzoli took over in February. That said, they did suffer a surprise 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Chievo on Tuesday night.

Pablo Osvaldo is the man to watch in the Roma attack. He’s in good goalscoring form and netted a hat-trick in the recent 4-0 win against Siena. Odds of 9/1 (Bet365) for the first goal are generous although 12/5 (SkyBet) for him to score anytime could be a better option.

Roma have the second worse defensive record in Serie A, and with Milan having home advantage and with Balotelli in such good form, I can only see a home win in this one. AC Milan can be backed at a best price of 7/10 (Paddy Power).
