Roma v Lazio: Betting Preview

Roma v Lazio – Serie A – Monday 8th April 7:45pm Live on ESPN.

It’s derby day in Rome as well as Manchester on Monday evening as seventh-placed AS Roma face sixth-placed SS Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. A win for Roma will see them overtake their city rivals as both teams remain in a battle for a European place for next season.

Roma are in a decent run of form. A surprise defeat away at Palermo last weekend ended a run of five games unbeaten, a run featuring four victories.

They have some selection problems as they will be without Ivan Piris and Pablo Daniel Osvaldo who are both banned, while defender Federico Balzaretti is out with a bout of flu. Nico Lopez and Andrea Florenzi face fitness tests and could both miss out.

Lazio have dropped away after an impressive first half of the season. After looking like challenging for a Champions League place at the turn of the year, they have won just two of the last 10 Serie A matches but did pick up a victory on their last league outing at home to Catania last weekend.

The biancocelesti could have one eye on their Europa League quarter-final second leg against Fenerbahce which takes place on Thursday evening.

Stefano Mauri, Alvaro Gonzalez and Ederson have shaken off minor knocks, but Sergio Floccari, Abdoulay Konko, Bruno Pereirinha and Andre Dias continue to miss out. German international striker Miroslav Klose is expected to start his first match after a two-month spell on the sidelines.

Derby day tips:

  • Roma to win @ 21/20 (StanJames)
  • First goalscorer Alessandro Florenzi @ 12/1 (Coral)
  • Both teams to score @ 7/10 (BetVictor)
