There should be a great game live on ESPN on Saturday night (7:45pm kick-off) as league leaders Juventus travel to the Stadio Dall’Ara to take on in-form Bologna.
The home team may sit in 10th place in the Serie A standing a massive 27 points behind their visitors, but they have come into some very good form of late. In their last six fixtures, they have won four, drawn one and lost just once, which is identical to Juve’s record in their last six fixtures too.
They have some very good attacking players who will cause the Juventus defence some problems. Former AC Milan and Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino will lead the line up front, ably supported from a deeper position by former West Ham player Alessandro Diamanti, who form over the past couple of seasons have been enough to establish himself in the Italian national team.
Gilardino is a very good striker and has 11 goals to his name this season and is 8/1 (Bet365, Paddy Power) to open the scoring. Diamanti is Bologna’s set-piece taker, both free-kicks and penalties, so he might be worth a punt at 10/1 (BetVictor, Ladbrokes) for the game’s first goal.
Juventus are nine points clear at the top of the table and will be looking to maintain that stronghold they have on the league with victory here. After recent injury, Giorgio Chiellini is back in the defence which should solidify that area of the pitch for the Old Lady, while Auturo Vidal returns from suspension and is likely to line-up in midfield.
The bianconeri don’t possess a striker with bags of goals to his name, the goal load is very much spread out with Sebastian Giovinco the highest scorer on seven strikes, so he could be worth a first goalscorer bet at 11/2 (Bet365).
Set-pieces are always important and Juve have a master in their ranks in Italian international Andrea Pirlo. Because of that, he is always worth a look to score any time, eespecially at odds of 4/1 (Blue Sq, 888 Sport).
It looks like being a tight game between two sides in pretty good form. I just think that the away team will have a bit too much quality for their hosts and so I’m predicting a narrow 2-1 Juventus victory at 17/2 (BetVictor).
