Genoa v AC Milan: Betting Tips

Genoa v AC Milan – Friday 8th March 7:45pm – Live on ESPN

AC Milan travel to Genoa on Friday evening looking to continue their impressive recent form and maintain their position in a Champions League berth in the Serie A standings.

It won’t be an easy game, Genoa themselves aren’t in a bad run of form themselves, although they did fall to a 3-1 defeat last time out away at Roma. But they have enjoyed good home victories over Lazio and Udinese in recent weeks and at the end of January, they held league leaders Juventus to a 1-1 draw.

Milan are on an excellent run of form of ten games unbeaten in all competitions which has seen them break into the top three in the league standings and on the brink of knocking Barcelona out of the Champions League after a 2-0 first leg win in the first leg.

The second leg of that tie is next week and so they may have one eye on that big game. But if they wish to qualify for next season’s competition, victory in Genoa will be required to keep them in the top three positions.

Genoa have plenty of selection problems, and not ones which will be welcomed by coach Davide Ballardini. Midfielders Marco Rossi, Ruben Olivera, Enis Nadarevic and Juraj Kucka and striker Antonio Floro Flores all miss out.

Milan welcome back central defender Phillippe Mexes and striker Mario Balotelli with Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong the only one to be missing for the rossoneri.

Genoa’s most influential player is likely to be striker Marco Borriello. He’ll probably be leading the line alone but up against one of his former clubs, he’ll have a point to prove. He is Genoa’s top goalscorer this season with eight goals, so could be a good bet to score anytime.

Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy are likely to be the Milan strikeforce and they have been a potent front-line in their fledgling partnership so far. Both are good bets to get on the scoresheet.

In terms of the result, Milan will be hoping to take three points before their concentrations turn to the Champions League clash on Tuesday night in the Camp Nou. They should have enough to do so in this fixture.
