Cheltenham Town vs. Everton – Monday 7 January – Live on ESPN (kick-off 7:45pm)
Premier League outfit Everton will be looking to avoid a cup upset when they travel to League Two high-flyers Cheltenham Town on Monday evening. Mersey rivals Liverpool escaped from non-league Mansfield Town with a narrow victory, the Toffees will be hoping for a much more comfortable ride into round four if they can.
Cheltenham are currently fourth in League Two and have a good home record. As has been shown on countless occasions in the past, anything can happen in the FA Cup, which is the beauty of the competition.
Despite their lofty position in the league, the Robins don’t score a great deal of goals. Striker Shaun Harrad is their top goalscorer with seven and he’s available to score any time at 7/2 (Bet365, Coral, Paddy Power). Midfielder Darren Carter, who has played in the Premier League with Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion, also pops up with his fair share of goals with five so far this campaign, so at 12/1 (Ladbrokes) to score any time, that might be worth a look if you fancy the home team to get on the scoresheet.
But Everton have had a very good start to the season in the top flight. They lie 5th in the Premier League and go into the game on the back of an impressive display to beat Newcastle at St James’ Park 2-1 last week.
They may rest one or two regular starters but the players who come in should have enough to carry on the same work-rate and commitment we have come to expect from David Moyes’ team. They are strong favourites at 1/3 (BetVictor, Betfred, StanJames) and they would have to under-perform to a great extent for them not to get the victory here.
