Cockney Dancer Looking To Cause A Solar Eclipse

Cockney Dancer Looking To Cause A Solar Eclipse

There’s a bumper day of racing from Wolverhampton, with 15 races in total.

Now I feel I’ve found a few over-priced horses that offer good value, though admittedly it’s been a challenge finding anything of interest.

12:00 Wolverhampton

Yeomanoftheguard is lightly raced compared to today’s rivals, but has already won at this course. That was over a shorter trip, however, and he was hugely disappointing on his handicap debut over C&D. Richard Fahey will have been working on him since then, and he could well figure at 12/1 (Bet365, Ladbrokes, StanJames, 888 Sport, Blue Sq & Sky Bet).

However, it’s another horse in the race that has caught my eye. Dream Win has raced over the C&D 3 times, winning on two of those occasions. He is available with StanJames at 14/1 and they also offer Best Odds Guaranteed.

Marco Botti’s Solar Deity is a clear favourite in this (5/4 Bet365) but is not unstoppable seeking the hat trick. Cockney Dancer is also looking for a hat trick on the all-weather, but disappointed on the turf between winning runs over C&D. Available at 3/1 with Totesport, Boylesport, Betfred & Bet365, Charlie Hills filly looks good value assuming the higher grade doesn’t make much difference.

Outlaw Torn was tipped to win on here last week and duly obliged, and is the favourite to follow up and make it 4 wins from his last 5. At 7/2 with all bookies, I’m happy to try and beat him today though, as he faces a penalty for that win.

Aragourn Rouge is an obvious threat from stall 1, with the dependable Joe Fanning on board (9/2 Sky Bet & Bet365), and headgear applied.

However, Spinning Ridge is racing for the first time since September, and has a solid record here, placing 15 times and winning a further 3. He’s offered at 16/1 with Boylesport, Sky Bet, William Hill and Paddy Power, which seems too much, and the each-way value is hard to ignore.

The other horse to interest is Edgeware Road. Sean Curran’s gelding has raced 4 times over C&D, and has finished 2nd on all 4 occasions. Even assuming he runs to that form again today, at 14/1 with Sky Bet, Paddy Power, 888 Sport and Blue Sq, that would still give you a tidy profit in the each-way market.

Greg’s Selections:

12:00 Wolverhampton – Dream Win e/w 14/1

6:00 Wolverhampton – Cockney Dancer 3/1 NAP

6:30 Wolverhampton – Spinning Ridge e/w 16/1 & Edgeware Road e/w 14/1

I've been going to the races since I was a kid, so always liked a flutter, but it's only in the last couple of years I've really put some time into studying form and stats etc. From there I started my blog, which helped me concentrate on specific races (maidens), and found my selections being pretty successful. I also like a bet on the football, NBA and occasionally boxing.
