There are slim pickings to be had in the UK games tonight. A fair number have fallen foul of the icy weather and those that remain are mostly Cup games in which team news will be crucial.
I was very tempted to tip up a comfortable Arsenal win but without any team news it’s hard to say how serious Arsene Wenger will take tonight’s game – although he is making all the right noises.
So instead I’m heading off to the continent again and a Belgian Cup quarter final match-up between KAA Gent and Anderlecht.
Gent are without a win in 7, in fact it’s just one win in the last 11 for them. They’re 11th in the table, 22 points behind league leaders Anderlecht who are unbeaten in 8 domestically (W7 D1 L0) and have a great record against Gent, winning 9 and drawing the other of their last 10 meetings.
Anderlecht have a bundle of goals in them and have scored 31 in their last 10, including 1 against AC Milan and 2 at Malaga last midweek.
Decisions, decisions! We successfully went for goals in the Lisbon derby last night so let’s try it again tonight and hope that Anderlecht have their shooting boots on and get close to repeating their last win over Gent by 5 goals to nil.
