Kick Off: Sunday 1.30pm. Live on Sky Sports 1
For United it’s a chance to establish a six-point lead in the title race. For City, a chance to be top dogs again and over take United at the summit of the table. But with both teams seemingly below par it looks a tricky one to call.
Defensively United have been a bit of a nightmare this season, seldom having a settled back four or even goalkeeper, so surely there’s goals in this for City? Sir Alex’s side have conceded the first goal an unbelievable 15 times in 23 matches so far and City are best-priced at 5/6 with Blue Sq to open the scoring.
However, United have comeback to win on 7 times in the league. To win from behind again they’re a huge 14/1 at Totesport – not a bad price for a game that could ebb and flow.
I think United would be happy with a draw to maintain their 3-point lead but I can see City having more desire to win this one. Paddy Power go 13/10 on the home win and if pushed I’d probably go with the blue half of Manchester to just edge it. But for me the outright market is a no bet today.
But for value I’m siding with City to bag a couple of goals and taking Corals 10/11 on them to score 2 or more.
Vincent Kompany netted last season in the Manchester Derby and he’ll be a key man again today. He’s not been at the top of his game but the towering defender is a massive influence in games like these. If he can keep the shackles on Rooney and Van Persie he could be picking up a bottle of bubbly from Geoff Shreeves at the end of the 90 minutes. Which leads me nicely on to BetVictor’s Man of the Match market. I believe they’re the only bookie to price up the market (as advised by expert @ManOTheMatchBet) and at 16/1 the Belgian looks as good a bet as any.
