Kick off: Saturday 3pm
A few weeks ago this match would’ve pitted two form teams in the league against each other. Both sides have seemingly hit the buffers and so the form book isn’t going to provide much of a guide.
Arsene Wenger took the opportunity to rest some first-team regulars in midweek, thus forfeiting his chances of winning top spot in their Champions League group. Having dropped 7 of their last 9 Premier League points a win in Greece would have provided the club with a bit of a pick-me-up but it was Olympiacos who took all three points.
The natives are growing restless at The Emirates and the Gunners need to get some good wins under their belt to move up the table and appease a growing group of disgruntled fans. A visit from West Brom won’t prove easy however.
The Baggies have been the outstanding team of the season so far and fans are dreaming of a place in Europe. They’ve been brought down to earth in recent weeks though with defeats at Swansea and at home to Stoke – games that they were expected to get something from given their current form.
I’ve no doubt they’ll relish a trip to the Emirates where they’ll get the chance to get the ball down and play and will be desperate to get back to putting points on the board.
On the outright markets Arsenal are a stupidly short 4/7 (Paddy Power, William Hill) and I can’t see anyone parting with their cash at those prices. However West Brom at 6/1 (Betfred, Coral, SkyBet) will have punters salivating at the prospect of an ‘upset’. I seriously cant fathom those odds. 15 games into the season and West Brom are 5 points and 5 places better off than Arsenal surely they’re better than a 6/1 chance to win at the Emirates, where incidentally they won 2 seasons ago. I’d keep it small stakes but a little wager on the Baggies looks a must.
I’ll be going a bit safer and keeping the draw on side by backing them with 0.5 of a start on the Asian Handicap at 8/5 with BetInternet
Despite a lack of goals in recent weeks I’ve a feeling there’ll be goals in this one. Rather than back both to score at 3/4 (BetVictor) I like the look of StanJames 8/13 on West Brom to score at least one. If you’re feeling more adventurous it’s 10/3 with StanJames that they’ll score 2 or more.
West Brom to score over 0.5 8/13 (StanJames)
West Brom +0.5 on Asian Handicap 8/5 (BetInternet)
