The controversy of Celtic’s 5th Round Scottish Cup win over Rangers may still linger but they’ve a job on their hands to claim a semi-final place with a tough trip to Inverness today.
It’s a place that has seldom resulted in a comfortable win for the Hoops so any thoughts of lumping on to Neil Lennon’s men at just 4/9 (Bet365) should be cast aside. In 11 games at the Tulloch Stadium Celtic have just 5 and with Caley going well in the SPL this season there’s absolutely no appeal in those short odds.
If you’re looking for a value bet then Terry Butcher’s side simply have to be backed at 8/1 with Totesport. They’ve already claimed a 2-2 draw at Celtic Park this season and it was only a Paddy McCourt wonder-goal that separated the sides back in August.
If you’re not feeling that brave then take a look at the Asian Handicap markets. Inverness +0.5 is available at 17/10 with Bet365, that means if it finishes all-square you’ll cash in. Caley +1 is 11/10 with Canbet, whilst +1.5 is still backable at 3/5 – this of course means that you’re in the money even if Celtic win by a single goal. 4 of those 5 wins have been by a single goal.
Another bet that looks worth taking on is Caley to win either half. I think this could very tight this afternoon and it wouldn’t surprise me if Celtic were slow to start – they often have been away from home so 11/4 (William Hill) on the Highlanders to win either 45 looks pretty decent.
