Kilmarnock v Celtic
Live on ESPN. Kick off 7.30pm
In general it’s been a fairly quiet transfer window but try telling that to the Celtic fans. A revolving door has been installed at the entrance to Celtic Park with 7 players leaving and 8 coming in at the last count. The biggest coup of the window has seen Irish captain Robbie Keane swap the Premier League for his bhoyhood heroes for the remainder of the season and Skybet have moved quickest to install him as 3/1 favourite to open the scoring in tomorrow’s re-arranged fixture at Rugby Park.
It’s yet to be confirmed if Keane is in the squad but if fit and available it’s certain that he’ll feature, possibly with the captain’s armband in situ. It’s also very probable that he’ll assume penalty kick duties for the Hoops since no-one else seems capable of scoring from the spot. On the anytime scorer market Skybet go 8/11, which is ridiculously short but judging by the crowds that have turned up at Celtic Park this evening to greet their new hero, won’t be without support.
Other new additions to the side include Diomansy Kamara (7/5 Bet365 to score anytime) and Thomas Rasmussen (11/10 Betfred) who scored the all-important winner on Saturday and they could be worth a look.
As for the game itself, it’s one that Celtic must win. This is the game they have in hand and the 3 points are desperately needed to cut Rangers lead to seven points. Totesport go the best price at 2/5 on the away win whilst Killie can be backed at 8/1 (Canbet Coral) to spring a surprise. With the feel-good factor back at Celtic Park it’d take a brave man to oppose the Hoops tomorrow.
In terms of the bigger picture, Celtic remain 2/1 (Boylesports, Skybet, William Hill) to win the SPL despite a complete reshuffle of the pack. Rangers are 2/5 (Bet365, 888 Sport, Blue Sq, Paddy Power). But I wouldn’t expect those odds to hang around for long if Celtic’s revolution gets off to a resounding start tomorrow night.
