Mr Fixit’s Weekend Scottish Fitba Tips

FOR years the Old Firm have been wanting to compete in England and McBookie.com have priced up Rangers to finish above Chelsea this season. But don’t be confused. The Ibrox haven’t moved down south in the same way Andy Murray hasn’t suddenly become English (unless he’s gubbed tomorrow).
McBookie.com have simply looked at the league tables and realised Rangers and Chelsea have played 22 games each in their respective leagues and have the same points and same goal difference. It’s quite uncanny but with Chelsea embroiled in a much tougher title race than the Scottish champions the chances are they will drop more points than the Ibrox men in the run-in. So back Rangers at 8-11 to score more points than Chelsea who are evens while Chelsea are 11-10 favourites to finish with a better goal difference than the Gers.
Rangers have a 10-point lead over Celtic at the top and it won’t be eaten into today. Walter Smith’s men have a straightforward clash against bottom dogs Falkirk and are 1-6 to take the points with the Bairns 20-1, an industry-best by a mile.
Celtic have beaten Hamilton by exactly one goal on their last three visits and it could be the same again for Tony Mowbray’s strugglers. It’s hard to make a case for the title chasers at 4-11 but they could edge it. Accies are 8-1.
Third-placed Hibs can build on their midweek success at Celtic with a thumping win against a St Mirren side who are struggling for goals. Consider on-fire Anthony Stokes to score first and Hibs at 8-13.
Aberdeen were partly responsible for Csaba Laszlo’s departure with a thumping win at Hearts on Tuesday and look decent value at evens to beat Motherwell at Pittodrie. Hearts could struggle at St Johnstone who are 6-4. Saints were unlucky to be thumped by Celtic last week after being reduced to 10 men.
In the First Division best bets could be Inverness at 10-11 at home to injury-hit Partick Thistle. Ayr could see off Raith Rovers who may be jaded after two Scottish Cup clashes in midweek. The Somerset men are 6-5.
Alloa gave us a profit last week and I like them at 8-13 against Arbroath and Brechin are the same price against Stenhousemuir.
In the Third look at strongmen Berwick at 4-11 and consider flying Forfar at home to Elgin.
- Scottish treble: Aberdeen, Hibs, Alloa
