Tony Mowbray is a man under pressure. Celtic’s midweek defeat at home to Hibs saw them slump 10 points behind Rangers and the Celtic support’s patience is wearing thin. Players have come and players have gone, but whether Mowbray’s Celtic is any better than the one he inherited from Gordon Strachan remains to be seen and Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off in Hamilton is the latest in a season full of must-win games for the Hoops.

Hibs landed odds of 9/1 with their 2-1 win at Celtic Park on Wednesday and there’ll be plenty who will fancy a bit of 8s (Coral, Paddy Power, SkyBet) about an Accies win in this one. But the Accies are one of the most toothless teams in the league with only Kilmarncok having scored fewer so it’s hard to see them scoring enough to take all 3 points. They’ve only won twice at home in the league and for all Celtic’s recent failings I just cannot see Hamilton adding to their misery.

Neither do I fancy odds of just 2/5 (Bet365, 888 Sport, Betfred, Blue Sq, Expekt) on the Celtic win either. You just cannot back them with any confidence at the moment. So we need to look elsewhere fo a bit of value.

Celtic have won their last two visits to Hamilton by 2 goals to 1 and a repeat result is priced at 8/1 (Ladbrokes) but I like the 3/1 available at Totesport on Celtic to effectively win by a single goal. On the Handicap betting at Totesport you can back the draw with Celtic starting with a goal of a start. That means any single goal victory for Mowbray’s side would land the bet. Half of Celtic’s wins on the road have been by a single goal.

I don’t see there being too many goalsa t either end but one man that is in a rich vein of form of the much-maligned Marc Antoine Fortune who has now scored 3 in his last 2 matches. He’s 9/2 (Betfred, Paddy Power) to open the scoring and 6/5 (Paddy Power) to score at anytime. New signing Thomas Rasmussen will also been keen to get off the mark and although he may not start he’s sure to feature at some point. He’s 10/11 (888 Sport, Bet365, Blue Sq) to notch his first goal for the Hoops.
