Mr Fixit’s Best Bets

I’ve teamed up with my friends over at McBookie to bring you a new exclusive for Selectabet.net. Every Saturday morning we’ll be featuring the legend that is Mr. Fixit (from the Daily Record) in a new column that focuses on the best bets in Scottish Fitba (that’s ‘football’ to all you non-Scots!)
Mr Fixit the floor is yours…
YOU wait three months for one and two come along together.
The Old Firm hadn’t won on the same weekend since the end of August but backers of the big two were rewarded for their patience over the last two weekends.
And Rangers and Celtic could make it three in a row this weekend with wins against Motherwell and Hearts respectively. There has been a marked improvement in the Glasgow giants’ displays after what’s been largely disappointing campaigns so far this season. Rangers have netted nine in their last three games and Kris Boyd had scored six in his last SPL clashes at Ibrox. Boyd once again looks the man to back to break the deadlock and is 7/2 with McBookie.com. Rangers are 2/9 to beat a Motherwell outfit who are 12/1.
Celtic tackle Hearts after a stunning Europa League comeback in Vienna and a spell in which they have netted 16 in six games after struggling in front of goal at the start of the term. Georgios Samaras, a slight injury doubt, has hit three in three SPL games while comeback man Marc-Antoine Fortune has scored three in two games. Hearts hardly ever score more than one and I can see Celtic winning by two or three at Tynecastle. Celtic are 8/13 with McBookie.com with the Jambos 5/1 and Samaras is 9/2 to hit the opener. Own goals have been few and far between this season but as it’s Christmas that might change. McBookie.com are asking how many own goals will be gifted to the opposition and offer 4/11 for none, 2/1 one and 16/1 two or more.
Hibs and Dundee United, the leading challengers to the big two, face tough away clashes today. Both drew on their travels last week and could suffer repeat results. United, 6/5 at Hamilton, have only beaten Billy Reid’s men once in five meetings. Hibs face an Aberdeen who lost at home to Hamilton last week but beat Rangers on their previous Pittodrie outing. Mark McGhee’s Dons have injury problems and I don’t think they’ll win but Hibs (7/4) aren’t the best on the road with only two successes. Some firms go odds on Killie at home to Falkirk so McBookie.com’s 21/20 is decent price. Mark Burchill is possibly the striker Jim Jefferies has ben searching for to partner Kevin Kyle and they look good together. The battle of the Saints, St Johnstone and St Mirren, could end all square. McBookie.com are an industry best on both with the Perth men 5-4 and the Buddies 9-4. In the SFL, there are bound to be call-offs due to the big freeze so check before placing a bet.
First Division leaders Dundee should be too strong for Morton at home and are 2/5 with McBookie.com. Ayr’s a tough place to go but I fancy Partick at 19/20 after hitting five at Airdrie last week. Form dogs Cowdenbeath look value at a best 4/7 to beat Arbroath in the Second and Peterhead, despite four defeats in a row, should take care of a side who conceded seven to Livingston in the Scottish Cup in midweek. The Blue Toon are also an industry biggest at 5/6.
There is an inspection at Annan where Third Division leaders Livi are the visitors. If it’s on back the away at 8/13..
Scottish treble: Celtic, Dundee, Cowdenbeath
