Betting Masterclass: How to Land a 593/1 Treble
Masterclass | selectabet | September 10, 2009 at 6:00 pm
Last night was most definitely Selectabet’s finest hour. A 593/1 treble doesn’t come along everyday you know, but if you’ve been reading this blog for a while you’ll know that it wasn’t as big a fluke as it looks.
The Tiler’s System
About two years I had a guy in to do a bit tiling in my kitchen. He was a decent bloke and we got chatting about betting. His tactic of choice was to bet on either side of the Old Firm winning by 2, 3 or 4 nil every week they were at home. He’d perm this with two of the big four in the Premier League doing the same each week. A decent system I thought, but the gap between the big teams and the smaller ones appeared to be closing and with so many quality players in the lower half of the Premier League in particular the bet could always be undone by a moment of magic. It looked a bit of a longshot to me but to be fair, he only needed the bet to come up about once every ten times to be in profit due to the average accumulative odds of his perm.
The perm is pretty simple; Pick 3 games, pick 3 results for each game and perm then in 27 trebles.
International Quality Gap
Anyway, International weekend was next on the horizon so I thought I’d shake up his system a wee bit and see what was on offer. Despite what the pundits say, there are still easy games in International football and a quick look at some of recent results prove that. The likes of Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein and Malta to name a few just cannot and will never compete at the same level as the likes of England, Germany, Spain and Italy. You only have to look at the group tables to see just how bad these guys are and more importantly just how few goals they actually score.
And when they do score it’s usually against fellow minnows. So with a clean sheet for the ‘bigger’ team as the basis of this system it’s then all down to how many goals the minnow will lose.
Be Good, Not Lucky!
Last night was fourth time lucky for me. On three previous occasions (here’s the last one and here’s the one before that,) just one goal had beaten me for massive payouts. I employed the same tactic each time, pick a game where the minnows really shouldn’t score then make an educated guess at how many the opposition will net. It’s not always easy but add odds of at least 4/1 for each correct score you should always get a really good return if you can get the scores right.
On Tuesday night I really did my homework. For example, I knew the Czechs had beaten San Marino 7-0 just a few years previously so they’d be keen to at least match that result. I also knew that Sweden hadn’t been scoring many, just 8 in 7 games in qualifying – they won 1-0 in Malta. I also knew that Azerbaijan had largely been able to keep pace with more illustrious opposition, they didn’t score too many but they didn’t lose by too many either. With all that knowledge I was able to get some real value out of the odds available and spread my chances. Fortunately this time it came up and I’m confident that I’ll be able to do it again, because I know what to look for.
Now you know the system why not give it a go yourself next time. I used to hate International Weekends, now I just can’t wait for the next one.

Well played. Good to see that bet come in mate. I had this bet on with you before when bosnia conceded a late goal to spoil things. Glad it finally came in! Gutted i missed your write up for this winner though! Oh well, roll on the next international fixtures
Hi Mark,
Yeah, I had a look through my previous attempts and remembered you’d had a go too. Sorry you missed out this time but we’ll give a go again eh?
