Chelsea v Hull City
Live on Sky Sports 1. Kick-off: Saturday 12.45pm
It’s hard to find a decent betting angle on this Premier League opener. The gulf between the two teams is reflected in the betting with the bookies making the Blues red hot favourites at 1/5 (Betfred, BetInternet, Blue Sq, Boylesports) to start their season with a win – something they’ve managed for the past 7 seasons.
Hull are 20/1 (Bet365, William Hill) to spring a major shock and only the very brave would take that one on.
So where else is there value to be had? If a Chelsea win is a given then 4/6 (SkyBet) on them to win without conceding looks quite tempting. With Terry and Carvalho re-united in defence I don’t expect Ancelotti’s side not to concede too many this season and a clean sheet tomorrow could be on the cards.
Another bet I like the look of is Expekt’s 8/1 on there eing a hat-trick scored in the game. I don’t know why but the first Saturday of the season always seemed to see a hat-trick being scored somewhere when I was younger (God, I sound old!), last season Gabby Agbonlahor duly obliged. With Drogba, Anelka and Lampard (on the penalties) taking to the field, the 8/1 price looks a decent option in a game that Chelsea should dominate from start to finish.
