500 Celebs in 90 Days. Why didn’t I think of That?

Every now an then the web throws up some quirky nutters. I was surfing around tonight and stumbled across another ‘Why didn’t I think of that’ idea;

Jules Segal a 37 year old writer from North London has backed himself with bookies William Hill, that in the space of three months he can meet face to face with 500 American Celebrities. “This bet is going to test the so called Special Relationship but there can be no doubt that the majority of Americans are game for a flutter, so Jules could well clean up, said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Bet One:
Jules has to secure a meeting with up to 500 famous Americans in 3 months spent travelling around the USA. He has been given odds of “however many he meets in 90 days” – to – one to a stake of. So should he meet 23 from his list, the odds he will receive will be 23-to-1, should he meet 112, he will receive 112-to-1. For each meeting to count, it must be pre-agreed by that individual, there will be no door-stepping of anyone.

Bet Two:
Segal has been offered odds of 100-to-1 to a stake of ….. should he manage to complete ALL 5 of these specific tasks, namely:

Have his golf-swing assessed by Tiger Woods.
Give Scarlett Johansson a peck on the cheek (with her permission).
Player Cards with Poker Champ Daniel Negreanu.
Make up a short rap with Kanye West.
Have Chef Emeril Lagasse cook him something to eat.

The Book/Bet
Jules Segal, is hoping to compile material for a new book that he will be writing which delves into the so-called ‘special relationship’ between the UK and the US, and how the Americans really view us, in a project called ‘The US Say’ (see www.us-say.com ). Jules will be questioning 500 members of the American public and anything up to 500 of their celebrities in order to find out their real opinions on Britain and the British.

The 500 celebrities were chosen by members of the public on Facebook and range from stars such as Brittany Spears, Mr T and Arnold Schwarzenegger, to astronaut Neil Armstrong, Businesspeople such as Martha Stewart and Bill Gates, witness from the OJ Simpson trial Kato Kaelin and assault victim John Bobbitt.

What a way to spend 3 months eh? Surely he’ll do it. I wonder if Hill’s are taking bets on whether he’ll land his bets.
