I just can’t seem to string a run of results together at the moment. It’s one step forward and two steps back but I’m not about to stop the Challenge, I just need to bet my way out of it at the moment and hopefully learn from it as I go. Bet 34 was landed comfortably earlier but at short odds and a low stake (due to bwin’s limit) but Bet 35 was lost in disappointing fashion (1-0) and I guess it doesn’t matter that the odds were the largest I’ve backed this season I think – maybe I was being a bit over ambitious or there was some key team news I wasn’t aware of. Who knows.
I’m looking to get things back on track very quickly again with a bet Ive just place on Red Bull Salzburg v Kapfenberg in the Austrian Bundesliga. This game sees 1st v 9th in the league with Salzburg clear faves for the three points.
Salzburg are the top scorers in the league, netting 2.7 per game, whilst losing more than per game on average too. Whilst games involving Kapfenberg average over 3.2 per match.
At really short odds, please, please, please let there be goals tonight.
Selection: Over 2.5 goals – Red Bull Salzburg v Kapfenberg. £181.32 @ 1.3 with Blue Sq
PS, If you’re looking in before 6pm you should take a look at the upcoming game between Vejle and Aalborg in thetop division in Denmark. Rumour has it that Aalborg are resting quite a few ahead of their Champs League game at home to Celtic on Tuesday. They’re 8th in the league without a hope of challenging the teams at the top so looks like they’d be prepared to sacrifice the 3 points? Vejle are available at 3.75 with Bet24.

Still 0-0 after 20 mins. And of course, the other game I looked at in this league is 2-0 already!
:$

Cool.
Cool. You’re way too fast for me! Not even checked myself yet.
1-3 before half time ..pen
Where are you getting your updates from?
Are you at the game?
Right, now I need to decide if I’m gonna have a punt on that Aalborg game or not?
Fc twente- heerenveen in holland
Sevilla – valencia in spain
These two looks good for overs to me
Are those on tonight?
I’m looking at Anderlecht v Westerlo, Waasland v St Truiden & Eupen v Heverlee – all in Belgium I think.
yes they are on tonight..
Twente kickoff 6.45 pm
Sevilla 9.00 pm
Twente – heerenveen is a good call but Twente’s last six games don’t fill me with confidence;
LAST 6 P W D L F A Pts Ave.
Twente 6 3 1 2 6 6 10 1.67
Heerenveen 6 2 3 1 11 11 9 1.50
But…. 8 of the last 10 meetings have finished overs.
i agree.. i had nottm forest -norwish on my acca they are 1-1 after 40 mins. fiorentina- udinese 0-1 at halftime.
If u r into live betting u get better odds as the match progresses
Interesting you should mention that as I had a wee peek at Betfair for one of the live games last week.
I’ve et to decide if it’s better to adopt a poistion (i.e. overs) before the game starts or to give it 10 mins and see how the shape of the game looks. Of course if a goal is scored early on you lose all the potential value before you’ve even started.
What do you think? Are you playing in-running?
yeah.. that gives u way better value.. if u place ur bet after say 10 mins..considering no goal is scored..ur odds wiill increase atleast by 0.30
If the odds before the start of match for overs is 1.5 after 10 mins it goes to 1.80
Interesting. I’ll need to to a closer look.
I noticed you’d read the Q&A with Matt at Punt.com.
He trades Tennis – that’s all he does. During Wimbledon I was on MSN (or something) with him for the Final and he let me trade with him on Betfair.
It was fascinating. You can trade on each game, almost every point. He certainly knows his stuff and I think he must’ve traded about 90% of the games correctly. I manage to make a small profit with him.
Tennis is ideal for that kind of in-play betting coz there’s small distinct packages of play. I can’t think of a similar football market that would allow you trade so easily in a footy match unfortunately.
Probably Unders/Overs is the closest.
i think number of corners is a better live bet than under/ overs. u get the pattern of how teams defend and how many corners they get.. and can put money on say over 10 or under 10 corners in a match.
Yeah not a bad idea.
But I don’t have a System for no of corners!
i particularly like number of games in a set bet on live tennis matches.. thats the only bet i managed to get it right on tennis matches..lol
I tend to make acca with something else and eventually lose them
well…let bookies do all the hard work.. u could tell if the game will be under or overs with their odds.. same with corners.. if at the start of the match if they say over 11 or under 11 corners instead of over/under 10 we can make pretty sure they will feature lot of corners
Good point.
I’ve gone with the Anderlecht game; http://selectabet.net/blog/2008/11/22/20000-challenge-bet-of-the-day-no37/
For the record, FT 2-5.
Sorry if I talked you out of that FC Twente game.
They’re 3 up at HT!
