Hamilton v Rangers – Live on Setanta Sports 1. Kick off 12.30pm
Hamilton Accies honeymoon period with the SPL is well and truly over. After a promising start that seen them take maximum points from their first 2 games they now haven’t won in the last 5. Two weeks ago they were humbled 4-0 at Celtic Park and followed that up with a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to bottom six rivals St. Mirren so the last thing they want is a visit from 2nd placed Rangers.
The Accies are 9/1 (Bet365, Ladbrokes, SkyBet) to pick up the 3 points in this one but personally I can’t see them posing too many problems for the Gers at New Douglas Park. Anything other than a win for Rangers could see them slip further behind Celtic in the title race by the end of the day and that’s unthinkable. They’re a short price at just 4/11 (Betfred, Paddy Power, SkyBet, Totesport) but look worth adding to today’s selections for an easy win.
Having well and truly thrown his toys out the pram about not getting a game for George Burley’s Scotland, Kris Boyd could feature for Walter Smith’s side and he has a point to prove. Don’t be surprised if he pops up with a goal or two in front of the Setanta Sports cameras. Boyd is 4/1 (888 Sport, Bet365, Betfred, Blue Sq) to open the scoring, 11/10 (888 Sport, Bet365, Blue Sq) to score at anytime in the 90 minutes and 33/1 (888 Sport, Blue Sq) to score a hat-trick – and I wouldn’t put it past him.
Rangers just have to be backed at 4/11 (Betfred, Paddy Power, SkyBet, Totesport) and if he starts then the 33/1 (888 Sport, Blue Sq) on a Kris Boyd hat-trick could look a huge price by the end of 90 minutes.
