Arsenal v Porto – Live on ITV1. Kick off 7.45pm

After Saturday’s shock home defeat to Hull the last place I’d want to be visiting on Champions League duty is the Emirates Stadium. Arsene Wenger’s side were given a wake-up call at the weekend and FC Porto will no doubt feel the backlash in tonight’s encounter.

Porto have lost on nine of ten previous visits to England, including a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal in September 2006, so the omens don’t look good 2004 winners. They recorded a 3-1 win at home to Fenerbahce on Matchday 1 but would not have expected to pick up much from this fixture when the draw was made. Domestically they’ve not won in their first two away fixtures and are unlikely to do so tonight.

With Arsenal sneaking a 1-1 in Kiev two weeks ago it’s vital that they make the most of their games at home. Wenger knows there’s no room for complacency and said “We have had a draw at Kiev and we know the home games will be decisive in our qualification”.

The home win won’t make you rich at 8/15 (William Hill) it looks like a license to print money and is definitely one for the accumulators.
