Pre-season Friendly Betting: Vfb Stuttgart v Arsenal

It appears all is not well with the Gooners. The uncertainty around who will go and who will stay added to the discontent of the supporters over certain squad players means the fans are unsure just what to expect from tomorrow’s friendly in Germany.
It should be a chance for Arsene Wenger to field a team closer to his preferred starting eleven than he’s managed so far this pre-season. Injuries are starting to clear up and the Gooners will be keen to get another look at Jack Wilshere who was impressive last time out against Burgenland.
Ironically, former Arsenal ‘keeper Jens Lehmann may make his official debut for Stuttgart tomorrow. He’ll be returning to action after Euro 2008 along with former Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger and Mario Gomez, who had such an awful tournament that even Gary Lineker looked more likely to score in Austria. If he continues that form then the Arsenal fans shouldn’t worry about the capabilities of Senderos to look after him.
Stuttgart’s season is already underway. They sneaked into the next round of the UEFA Cup qualifying courtesy of an extra-time win over FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast in the Intertoto Cup on Sunday. They’ll now look forward to the draw on Friday and may be forgiven if they have one eye on the next round.
Bendtner knocked in 4 last time out and he’s 7/1 (Boylesports, Paddy Power) to open the scoring this time. But it’s more likely that Van Persie and possibly Adebeyour will start and they’re 6/1 (Paddy Power) and 11/2 (Boylesports) to fire past Lehmann first.
The bookies make Arsenal favourites to win this one and if they go with a decent line up I think the 6/5 (Bet Direct, Coral, Stan James) might be worth a small punt. But wait to see what the line up is and as ever, only go with small stakes on these pre-season friendlies.
