A fantastic second round 67 for South Korean KJ Choi earned him outright leadership of the Open Championship ahead of veteran Greg Norman. Norman had led for most of the day after he carded a second 70 at Royal Birkdale. But Choi overhauled the two-time winner with 2 birdies in the final 2 holes to go one shot clear on -1 at the top of the leaderboard.

The bookies now make Choi favourite to lift the claret jug on Sunday at 6/1 (Bet365, Bet Direct, Ladbrokes, Sportingbet, Stan James). Norman can be backed at 25/1 (SkyBet) to win his third title.

Colmbian Camilo Villegas finished with a remarkable 5 straight birdies to move onto +1, where he sits alone ahead of a pack of 7 players on two-over that includes Rocco Mediate (22/1 SkyBet), David Duval (35/1 Bet365, SkyBet), Jim Furyk (10/1 Bet365, Bet Direct, Ladbrokes, William Hill), Graeme McDowell (14/1 Bet365, Bet Direct, Ladbrokes, SkyBet) and defending champion, Padraig Harrington (12/1 Ladbrokes).

Ian Poulter is the highest placed Englishman in joint 11th on three-over and he’s 25/1 (Bet365, Sportingbet, VCBet).

The bookies still reckon Sergio Garcia is in with a shout despite him being 6 strokes off the pace, he’s best priced at 18/1 (Bet365, Bet Direct, Stan James)

Personally I think Australian Adam Scott could still be worth a small investment. He shot a 74 today but is capable of much better if the conditions improve. He’s currently on +4, 5 shots off the lead and at 22/1 (Bet Direct, SkyBet, Stan James) looks decent value.
