Euro 2008 Bet: Switzerland v Turkey

I am having a nightmare! The balance is down to just £68.01 after 4 goals in the last game sunk my latest bet.

It’s a long way back and £5,000 now looks out of the question but I’m gonna keep going and see if the tide will turn sooner rather than later.

Both Switzerland and Turkey are desperate for a win after losing their opening ties against Czech Republic and Portugal respectively. The Swiss lost their captain and arguably most influential player Alexander Frei in the last game and look likely to struggle to find the goals they need to stay in the tournament. Defeat for them will mean they’ll be the first team to exit the tournament which would be a disaster for the home nation. The pressure is on.

Turkey are in a similar position, however they have previously lost their first game but still gone on to progress from the group stages an will believe they can do so again. They’re without Emre but do look the better side. Based on this evening’s earlier result it seems that the form will go with Turkey.

There’s a bit of needle to this one too. There was a bit of fracas a few years ago in Instanbul whihc reult in sanctions for the Turks. If that bad blood is carried into tonight’s game then it could be a fiesty affair.

Bookies have Switzerland as favourites but I’m going to go against that. Turkey are 2/1 to win tonight but they’re also 153/100 on the Asian Handicap at (0) – so effectively Draw No Bet.
