Germany v Poland

In 15 games between these two Poland have never won. That’s the size of the challenge facing Leo Beenhakker’s men when they take on tournament favourites, Germany, tonight. But, did you know that Germany haven’t won a single match at the Euros since 1996?

So which run is going to come to an end?

The smart money is obviously saying that Germany should win this one but as kick-off gets closer I’m thinking the Poles will give them a bit of a run for their money. However, a quick look a the German line-up that includes Klose, Podolski, Gomes, Frings and Ballack and it’s hard to see them not beginning the tournament with a win.

So far, all 3 games in the tournament have finished Under 2.5 goals so I’m not keen to go down that route. There are goals in this German team but they need to get past the in-form Artur Boruc in the Polish goal. So I’m not sure that this will be the first game to give us more than two goals.

As I’ve said elsewhere I think Miroslav Klose will be there or thereabouts when it comes to the tournament top goalscorer and he could get off the mark tonight. He’s 5/1 (Centrebet) to open the scoring and 13/10 (Paddy Power) to score at anytime.

But I’m going with the German win. I’m not 100% convinced to be honest but it looks like the only bet to have tonight.

Selection: Germany win. £125 @ 8/15 with Paddy Power.
