Euro 2008: The Selectabet Challenge

After a successful betting season last time round I’m trying another challenge this time round. Starting with £250 again, I’m aiming to turn that into £5,000 by the time Euro 2008 is finished on June 29th. And here’s how I’m going to do it…

I’ll be betting on every game (well almost – I’ll come to that in minute). I’ll always bet half of my current bank, so my first bet will be £125. If I lose my first bet the bank will go down to £125 and my next bet would be £62.50 and so on. That way I’ll always have something to bet with should I go on a losing streak – it has been know to happen!

OK, so that’s the staking plan out of the way.

There are some games I won’t be betting on; When the Group stages reach the last round, both games in the group are played at the same time. I’ll have half my bank available to bet so won’t be able to bet on the two games, instead I’ll pick my best bet and go with that.

On my way to a £657.00 profit last season I managed a success rate of 77.3%. Something similar or better would do nicely this time round again. I reckon that I can afford to lose 1 in 5 bets, that 20% of them and still reach the £5,000 target.

I’ll only be betting on markets with 2 outcomes, so that’ll be on the Asian Handicap, Under/Over, Draw No Bet etc. That eliminates the bookies edge a wee bit. Those markets tend to offer lower odds so I’m expecting an average price to be around 4/6.

So that makes a total of 28 bets, at an average of 4/6, with an 80% strike rate and a starting bank of £250. All going to plan I should be in profit to the tune of £5,500 by the time the final whistle blows on Euro 2008.
