Cheltenham Festival: Would you trust Brazil’s tips?

I don’t do horses.

Well not really. Only when there’s no football on, I’m bored or if someone gives me a tip.

Soooo….I was listening to TalkSport this morning and Alan Brazil was having a chat about the forthcoming Cheltenham Festival with his man from Coral. He happened to let slip a wee bit of inside info about a horse called L’ami (at least I think that’s the one he was talking about) – saying he had heard from a friend of the owner or trainer that it was worth a punt next week. It’s running in the William Hill Trophy Handicap on Tuesday 11th.

As I said, I’m no horse aficionado but I had a wee look and see that its priced at 20/1* with Betfred (Some bookies have it at 14s, and its 17s with Betfair). Would you trust Brazil’s tips? If you’ve any inside track on this one let me know. I might have a wee dabble.

(*Correction: Since I posted this the best price is now 18/1 with Coral)

Apart from that, the Festival will probably pass me by – although it looks like it would be a cracking event to go to – maybe next year!

  1. Just checked the betting and the best price for L’ami is now 14s. Some bookies have it at as little as 11s. Maybe Alan Brazil will be right on this one?

  2. rakey says:

ok.. i would go for these

    Gold Cup – Kauto Star
Champrion Hurdle – Harchibald or Katchit
    world hurdle – Inglis Drever
Queen mother Champion Chase – Voy Por ustedes

there is a good site here might be worth checking out. it gives you all the odds from all of the bookies too. http://www.cheltenham-betting.co.uk/cheltenham-festival-odds.php

  3. Cheers rakey,

A friend warned me off L’ami (its now 12s) at the weekend and suggested Fier Normand in the William Hill instead.

    Anyone else got any tips?

  4. L’ami is now 10/1 with some bookies (Bet Direct, Coral, Sporting Bet & Stan James). It’s 8/1 at others.

  5. Hey rakey,

Good shout on the Champion Hurdle, I see Katchit won at 10/1. I had a £5 free bet at Blue Sq and stuck it on your other tip, Harchibald! :(

  6. It looks like L’ami is going to go off favourite. Its been backed into 11/2 from 8s on the course. There must be some serious money to move that much.

I hope I’ll be smiling at getting on it at 18/1 last week.

  7. Almost. L’ami finished 3rd in a great race. At least you each way backers would have got something back – like me ;)
