  • Bet: Red Star to give Gers the Blues
Red Star Belgrade v Rangers Champions League, 3rd Qualifying Round, 2nd Leg I’ve tried to leave this till the very last minute before deciding to get on Red Star. I just heard Walter Smith state that for many of his inexperienced team this is the first time they would face something like tonight. Its a game that Rangers don’t need to win and judging by the...

  • Champions League Midweek Preview
Its a big week week ahead for the Champions League hopefuls as the second leg of the final qualifying round takes place. The British teams managed some good results in the first leg and all 4 will feel they can go through. On the betting front the Liverpool and Arsenal ties look over and both will be expected to win at home on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Liverpool...

  • Bet: Fir Park fir goals
Sorry, but I’ve had some trouble with WordPress today – It was down earlier when I wanted to post about today’s bet. I was tempted to go with a Motherwell win away/home to Gretna but it seemd everyone was piling into it and usually when something seems like such a certainty to me it doesn’t come in. Instead I opted for over 2.5 goals in the game,...

  • Quiet Week Ahead
There’s not much happening this week apart from the International friendlies. I think it will be a quiet one on the betting front for me. I hate International games, but non-competitive ones are a waste of time so I’m keeping my money in my pocket (Thats no bad thing after the weekend’s results) and looking forward to Saturday’s fixtures.

  • Bet: Raining Goals in Manchester
For some reason I’m drawn to betting on the overs market in the Manchester derby today. All the stats I look at tell me other wise, for instance Man City’s poor scoring record at home last season, Man Utd without the firepower of Rooney and Ronaldo, not to mention that neither team has been involved in a game with over 2.5 goals so far this season. I must be...

  • Scottish Football Weekend Betting Preview
The weekend starts here. I’ve been having a little look at some of the fixtures in Scotland and from what I’ve seen there’s money to be made this weekend. Scottish Premier League The form hasn’t really settled down yet this season as we’re only two games in so I’ll be giving a wide berth to the Motherwell v Kilmarnock game as both...

  • Do I have the kiss of death?
Earlier in the week I posted about Rabotnicki v Zrinjski in tonights UEFA Cup. Now, I know absolutely nothing about either of these teams. If I’m honest I don’t even know where they come from, but I picked up a little bit of info that a home win was the way to go. Rabotnicki were priced at 1/2 which was all a bit short for me. That was until about an hour ago,...

  • Bet: Moscow for Spartak Against the Hoops
As much as it pains me to say it, I think Celtic could be on the end of yet another away Euro defeat this evening. Their away from in the Champions League proper is abysmal (aside from a creditable extra-time defeat at the San Siro), losing 3 goals in each of their 3 group away games last season. Tonight they face Russian League leaders, Spartak Moscow who are 20 games...

  • UEFA Cup and Champions League Preview
Its always difficult to compare the relative merits of two teams and pick a winner. When the two teams come from different countries its even harder – but in some cases it does present an opportunity. This week we have qualifiers for the UEFA Cup and Champions League on the cards, here are a few thoughts. Tonight the action kicks off at Ibrox where Rangers entertain...
